If Animals Kissed Good Night Book Review

Below are some reviews from readers.

“This is an adorable book, with wonderfully simple drawings, vivid colors, fun rhyming, and a great bedtime theme. The fact that they mixed up all the genders – mommies, daddies, daughters, sons – perfected the experience for me. There is an hilarious recurring theme with the sloths because they take so long for their kiss. My kids and I love to say “sooooo slooooow” as low and as long as we can while describing how the sloths kiss good night. Fun and sleep-inducing!!” – Michael

“Very cute illustrations, fun rhymes, and a variety of animals make this a winning bedtime read, one especially suited for Valentine’s Day. I like the imagination behind the different settings, sounds, etc. the parent/baby animals would make with their goodnight kisses, and the ending illustration is especially adorable and ties in adorably with the author’s note where she mentions she was inspired to write the book based on a little bedtime game she used to play with her own child.” – Kathryn

“If Animals Kissed Good Night is about a child that wonders how different animals would kiss good night to their families. On each page, there are different animals and it explains how they would each kiss good night. It shows the different ways that they would share their unique love. The overall theme of this book is love because it explains the way that animals would kiss each other good night. The message is very heart warming because all the animals differ in the way they say goodnight, but they all love each other.

I really enjoyed reading this children’s book. It made me happy inside, and it reminded me of when my mom or dad would tuck me into bed when I was younger. I would for sure recommend this book to be in all the homes of young children. The illustrations are very well drawn drawn, and the author did a great job at explaining the ways that animals say good night.” – Mary Becker </p

“Absolutely delightful from beginning to end. This book could easily become part of a good night ritual with my son—the mother softly describes different ways in which animals would kiss (sloth and her cub: sooooo slooowwwww…) as she tucks her small daughter into bed with an assortment of the very same animals. The illustrations are sweet lovely watercolors, the verse always rhymes without poetic license, the meter scans exactly as it should. Could not be better.” – Joanna

“Love the illustration of this book. It is such cute book that I would love to keep. I like the idea of “What if Animals Kissed like we kiss Good Night?” This book is a great book for parents to read with their little one and show them how animals share love to each other. There are so much different type of animals in the world, and all of them have their own way to kiss good night with their loved one. This is a good book that parent can teach their children about love and how animal love in their own way. I really like the idea of the story and the pictures are nicely done with cute animals and detail of how they show love to each other. the action and the move is very clear and easy for children to understand. I really like all the colourful pages with the simple text wrapped around it.” – Kristin

“Lovely book to read before bed, my 8 month old daughter enjoys listening to the rhymes and turning the words, the text isn’t too long so she doesn’t get bored and the illustrations are lovely too. One of those books you don’t mind reading again and again!” – Laurel

“Omg this book is SO freaking adorable. Read it in the library over the summer and had to buy it for our son. The first page goes “If animals kissed like we kiss goodnight, sloth and her cub, in late afternoon’s light, would hang from a tree and start kissing….” Other pages: “tiger cub and mama would kiss and then growl… wolf and her cub would kiss and then howl” The story is beautifully rhymed, the illustrations are great, and not too overwhelming or abstract like some baby books, and it has this adorable refrain every few pages of “and sloth and her cub? STILL kissing goodnight!” ahh! just so freaking cute. Probably my favorite baby book I’ve found this year, and I try to make it more engaging for our son (because it’s totally a mommy favorite) by lifting him upside down whenever they do the sloth refrain and giving him kisses, which he finds hilarious.” – Mama

“Let me start by saying I’m obsessed with children’s books! I wanted all the classics that I loved as a child and I wanted to find some new favorites for our family. I was searching for best selling children’s books and came across this one. So pleased that I decided to buy it, this book is the cutest! The illustrations are amazing!! I love the colors and all of the sweet animals. I can’t wait to read this to my little one.” – Cassandra W.
